The Lutheran Student Chaplaincy
The Chaplaincy at ILSC provides social activities and outings, opportunities for reflection and Christian worship, and personal support. It is here to serve all, regardless of religious (or non-religious) background.
You are invited to…
SHARE FRIENDSHIP and enjoy fellowship with other students with our different social activities. The Chaplaincy regularly organises events in cooperation with staff and residents, and they are always a great opportunity to get to know others and build friendships. The best events are often those organized by residents, so please get in touch if you would like to organise one! You can find updates on current events and make suggestions on the ILSC’s Facebook page.
EXPLORE OR DEEPEN THE CHRISTIAN FAITH. At the Centre, we have an active worship life. We meet for mid-week Morning Prayer in the Meditation Room, off the Chapel (Tuesdays 9.30am – we move to the TV room when there are conferences in the Chapel), and worship on Sunday evenings in the Chapel at 7pm (Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month and an informal Evening service on the 3rd Sunday. Please check the noticeboard in the Lobby for other services).
DISCUSS AND REFLECT. Whether it’s about faith, philosophy, or just a casual discussion – there are plenty of opportunities to discuss and reflect. Apart from one-off events, different groups are organised every year, often led by students. All are welcome and all views are respected.
All residents meet once a month to strengthen the ILSC community and reflect on its foundations (see also the “About us” section). This is through listening to a talk and discussing it, sharing in small groups about a particular topic (e.g. aspects of culture, student life, different faiths), sharing a meal, etc.
JOIN OUTINGS. We regularly organise hikes and trips to places of historic, cultural or religious significance, in London and beyond.
GET SUPPORT. The chaplain is also here to support you in your spiritual and emotional life, and to help with the challenges of student life in a foreign country and culture. This is available to residents of all faiths or none.
Personal spiritual accompaniment is also available for those who would like to grow deeper in the Christian faith.
